Several Days or Weeks Before your First Appointment

If your medication causes hair loss, it is recommended to cut your hair short

Choose your wig in advance

Why not tattoo your eyelashes and eyebrows on several weeks in advance? (If not, semi-permanent make-up solutions exist)

Book an appointment with your dentist to remove any tartar and cavities

Prepare an emergency kit so that all your medicine in one place. That way you will not have to move too much: Pain-killers, anti-nausea tablets, mouthwash, healing cream…

Equip yourself with mild, fragrance and alcohol-free products for sensitive skin that will not cause irritations

Take a photo of your eyebrows so that you can redraw them later
Several Hours Before Each Appointment

Organise in advance your means of transport, to and from your appointments. It is best to ask someone to accompany you for the first session as it is very tiring and support from your family and friends is essential

It is important to wear comfortable, loose clothing as certain chemotherapies can last up to 4 hours

Make sure you wear clothes that are practical for when your drip is attached

Remember to protect your nails (especially for those taking Taxotere): 1 base coat of clear nail varnish with silicium (for men too) + 2 coats of dark/opaque or anti-UV nail varnish + 1 top coat of clear nail varnish to strengthen the nail

You will need to stay well hydrated during, and even before, your appointment

Eat lightly, nothing too heavy or fatty

Avoid any perfumes or strong smells as odours can become unbearable
